“The Daddy Issues” was a BLAST!

Wow! So many wonderful vendors and supporters came out to our event. The weather was so beautiful, our courtyard was filled with the aroma of food, amazing art, music and talented artist’s showing off their skills.

This event proved that it needs to be an annual theme based on the turnout and how much fun everyone was having. Each vendor had unique, one of a kind items based on the theme of comics and Star Wars. All of our inner (and outer) geek came out and we loved it!

Among all of the art that filled the tables, we also had a few space inspired decorations made by future artists. A Little Known Shop offered a workshop called, “Watercolor Your Planet”. The planets hung from above along with the Death Star.

As always, Waffle-icious brought the most amazing food and kept our bellies full. So many great items to choose from on their menu. Don’t worry, they will be back for our July 13th event so you can try something new from their menu.

Along with shopping, guests found themselves creating at the make and take table. We offered magnets, pins and sticker foam heads which they could turn into superheroes. When they were done, some moved their creative minds into The Makery for more crafting.

This youngster made his favorite superhero…his DAD!

Filling the courtyard with beautiful tunes was guitarist and singer Bradley Hargrove.

The outstanding vendors were so generous and donated several of their handmade goodies to the raffle so guests could have a chance to go home with amazing merch! This table was so popular and we can’t wait to see what our raffle will look like next month.

BOOM! POW! ZAP! The photo booth got a lot of laughs and everyone had fun changing out the captions that were provided. They could channel their inner super powers to create fun poses with friends and family.

The very talented Playkill artist, Eric Padina, came out and did live art while selling prints of his work. Everyone was blown away by his artistic abilities. It’s always so neat to see an artist showing their sweet skills.

We are so happy to see the community coming together and having fun at our free events. All we can ask is that they all spread the word and show up each month with new guests. In between our monthly events, our shop is open for purchasing handmade and original art. Don’t forget, we have The Makery art studio too which offers affordable and fun projects for all.

“Mother May I…Shop Handmade?”

Our event was another success!

We felt so much support from friends, family, and guests at our new location. Community offered a beautiful setting for shopping, mingling and relaxing! We hope all of you return each month.

Along with our event, our new retail store, A Little Known Shop, opened it’s doors for a sneak peek of it’s space. A Little Known Shop will be offering space for handmade and original art to be sold. The shop will be having the Grand Opening on May 31, 2013 from 6-10pm. Next to the shop is The Makery, a wonderful art studio offering workshops, projects for guests that drop in, rental space for events and more! Join us for the free grand opening to enjoy shopping local handmade merch and original art, listen to live music, eat amazing tamales, play the raffle, get a face/body painting and caricatures.

RSVP for the the special night here:  A LITTLE KNOWN SHOP GRAND OPENING

Our craft events will be held in front of the new store and neighboring shops inside of Community.

This month we had our fun festivities including: Caricatures, a photobooth, raffle, and a make and take table.

The free craft project  this month was paper flower making which could be attached to cards and tags.

We are known for our exciting raffles with great handmade prizes and more, and this month we put a twist on it: BINGO RAFFLE!

One of our guests below was the final winner of the night and went home with an original painting. Several other winners took home handmade items such as greeting cards, prints, jewelry, baked goods and more.

Some of our vendors were from previous shows, but we also had merchandise by new vendors.

We’re moving locations!

We had to make a last minute move to a different location for our upcoming show, Mother May I… Shop Handmade? We’re bummed that we won’t be at the F+ Gallery but we’re super excited to be at Community in Anaheim! Community is a “grassroots effort by locals to bring Orange County a fulfilling destination for the design, environmental, and socially conscious consumer.” We absolutely love this space, the people, and the shops in Community and we couldn’t be happier that they’re accepting us with open arms. And we hope you’ll join us this Saturday, May 11th, to check out our fabulous vendors and the wonderful space at Community.

Bats Day “Black Market” 2013

20130507-122528.jpg

This was one of my first “Bats Day” events, but one of the A.L.K.C. coordinators had been here before.

Wow! The talent, variety, cosplay, costumes and more just made it such a unique experience. I found myself talking to so many wonderful vendors, and also buying goodies. I didn’t have time to speak with every single vendor, but some that I met were:

But there were so many other great artists too!!!!

Check out the “Bats Day” official website to see their other events. One is around the holidays.

It’s May…so it’s time for our next event!

“Mother May I…Shop Handmade?” will be our next monthly event, which is being held on May 11th. We will have vendors who specialize in so many unique, whimsical, and random handmade peices. You will have plenty to choose from to give a one of a kind gift to your mama. We are also very excited to have a simple, yet beautiful, make and take craft table. We wanted to have some fun with our raffle this month, so we will be doing a “CRAFT” Bingo. Each card will be $1.00 each.

Along with all of the fun inside, there will be “The Viking Food Truck” serving all kinds of yumminess.

Hope to see you there!

CRE-8-Bit: Cre-8 Your <3 Out

This past weekend marked our second month at our new location — the beautiful F+ Gallery in Santa Ana, CA. We had yet another successful day of networking, shopping, festivities, food, and lots of new & repeat customers. This event was called CRE-8-Bit and oh my, we had a blast with this 8-bit theme!

Welcome to CRE-8-BIT

At this event, we had over a dozen vendors and we even had an awesome food truck. We also offered several fun services and a free make & take craft project. We’ve had a craft project at all of our events so far but this particular one was the biggest hit to date!

A Little Known Craft - CRE-8-Bit

This month’s make & take project was perfect for our 8-bit theme: Perler beads! Everyone had a blast with this classic craft. From young little kiddos to adults, everyone came up with awesome 8-bit style designs. We even had quite a few people request that we offer this crafty project again at our future events. We’ll see!

We also had an 8-Bit photo booth and boy was it a hit! We captured quite a few sweet (and funny!) pictures.

Along with the photo booth and Perler bead make & take project, we had some fun services available: airbrush tattoos, caricatures, and henna. (Contact Lacy Ink for booking info.)

The Waffle-icious food truck came to our event for the very first time and we all loved it so much! It was super delicious. They had plenty of great items on their menu — from sweet desserts to savory sandwiches. Not only were they delicious but they were also really affordable. One of our customers even made a total of FOUR orders. Yum! Us A Little Known Craft gals really loved the grilled cheese waffle sandwich. We’re drooling over here just thinking about it…A Litltle Known Craft - Waffle-icious

Waffle-icious asked to join us again and we are so happy to say that we will be having them back at future events. YAY!

Amongst all of the fun, we had a raffle going on throughout the event. One of our vendors, Audrey from Audrey Miller Art, had her heart set on this Tofu Girls print. Well, she bought lots & lots of raffle tickets and it paid off!!!!A Little Known Craft - CRE-8-Bit Photobooth

Today was extra special for our coordinators, too! Genevieve (one of our three coordinators) was celebrating her birthday! We celebrated by surprising her with a yummy gluten-free cake before the event. (Thanks to the Sensitive Sweets bakery in Fountain Valley for this beautiful cake!)A Little Known Craft - CRE-8-Bit - Happy Birthday Genevieve!

We want to send out a big THANK YOU to all of our vendors, Waffle-icious, and of course all of our customers, friends, and family who came out & supported our event. We love to see each and every one of you. This is our passion and each of our vendors loves to share what they make.

Please keep supporting local handmade arts & crafts. These people are too talented & creative to have boring desk jobs!
